TEACHER There was a time when you had a burning desire Exposions in your head your mind was on fire And all the things you told me I wanted them to be true Teacher i went off to expore the world all because of you You made history seem so vivid and real You captured my imagination you broke the seal I realised there was so much to see Teacher you opened the door and set me free Now all I see is a shadow of that man A million miles from where you began It felt so tragic to see you this way Teacher you reached me you made me this way Passion had been replaced by apathy Genious had become a tragedy Education had lost a shining star Teacher to me you still are NOTE This tells the true story of a teacher who inspired me to go out & discover the world. In his lessons he brought history and the world to life, he was brilliant. After leaving school I had a burning desire to visit all the places I had learned about. The pyramids in Egypt, The Colaseum in Rome, Auschwitz in Poland and so many other places. Years later I bumped into my teacher and like an excited child I told him of all my adventures. His reaction was soul destroying. The years of teaching had taken it’s toll. It had become a job to be endured. That passion to teach had gone. He was a shadow of his former self. I don’t want to judge him – we all know that teachers now teach with oned hand behind there back. Kids know teachers are almost powerless to administer dicsipline. Years of different goverments medalling putting statistics above teaching. I don’t know what it was but that spark had gone. But to me he will always be that teacher that inspired me to dicover the world.
